JADEN FARMER PRODUCER COMPANY LIMITED

Jaden FPO participated in a state-level exhibition at Bhubaneswar, supported by NABARD and OMM, for three days. This event provided a platform for showcasing various millets products and innovations. Jaden FPO’s participation highlighted their commitment to sustainable farming and rural development. The exhibition attracted numerous visitors, including farmers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts. NABARD and OMM’s support was instrumental in facilitating this event, aiming to promote agricultural advancements and community engagement. Over the course of three days, Jaden Fpo networked with peers and gained valuable insights, reinforcing their role in the agricultural sector.

Jaden FPO cultivated 14 acres for maize, involving shareholders in the process. Key steps include selecting high-quality seeds, preparing the soil through plowing and fertilization, and planting seeds at appropriate depths and spacing. Maize requires well-drained, fertile soil and a warm growing season with adequate rainfall or irrigation. Crop management includes weed control, pest and disease management, and proper fertilization. Harvesting occurs when the maize reaches physiological maturity, indicated by the black layer at the kernel base. Post-harvest, the maize is dried to prevent spoilage, and proper storage is crucial to maintain quality and prevent losses. The profit is shared 45% among the shareholders.

Jaden FPO has initiated nursery activities with the active involvement of local women groups, targeting various Self-Help Group (SHG) members. This year, they successfully distributed 10,000 plants, including drumstick and papaya. This initiative not only promotes sustainable agriculture but also empowers women by providing them with opportunities to contribute to their communities’ economic and environmental well-being. Through these efforts, Jaden FPO is fostering community engagement and supporting local livelihoods while encouraging the cultivation of nutritious plants.

Jaden FPO prepares a variety of products from ragi, including traditional sweets like Anduli pitha, Manda pitha, and Arisha pitha. These are made by incorporating ragi flour into the recipes, giving a nutritious twist to these delicacies. Additionally, Jaden FPO produces ragi powder, which can be used in various culinary applications. Ragi, a rich source of calcium and fiber, is milled into fine flour to retain its nutritional benefits. These products cater to health-conscious consumers, blending traditional flavors with modern health needs.

Jaden Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) specializes in preparing and marketing a variety of mango-based products. They produce Mango Achar (Khata), Mango Sada, and Mango Achar (Mitha), using traditional recipes that preserve authentic flavors. Jaden FPO actively participates in district and state-level exhibitions, showcasing their high-quality mango products to a wider audience. By leveraging these platforms, they aim to increase brand awareness, reach new customers, and expand their market presence across different regions. Their dedication to quality and tradition helps them stand out in the competitive market.

In June 2024, Jaden Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) participated in a three-day Mango Mela held in Bhubaneswar, organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). The event showcased a diverse range of mango varieties and promoted sustainable agricultural practices. Jaden FPO’s participation highlighted their commitment to quality produce and provided an opportunity to connect with consumers and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector. The Mango Mela served as a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and boosting the local economy by supporting farmers and their produce.

In 2023, Jaden FPO cultivated 50 acres of land for groundnut with the involvement of 20 shareholders. After deducting all expenses, the profit was shared, allocating 30% among the farmers. This collaborative effort not only optimized resource use and reduced individual risks but also ensured a fair distribution of profits. The collective approach fostered a stronger community spirit and encouraged sustainable agricultural practices. By pooling resources and efforts, Jaden FPO provided a model for effective farmer collaboration and economic growth.

Farm-Based Livelihoods

——————

JADEN is enhancing farm-based livelihoods by introducing scientific and diverse farm practices. They promote integrated crop cultivation models, including the 50-cent model for medium land cultivation. Seasonal vegetable cultivation features prominently with crops such as pointed gourd, spine gourd, ridge gourd, bottle gourd, and bitter gourd. Additionally, banana and green leafy vegetables are cultivated alongside agro-horticulture initiatives involving mango, cashew, litchi, and pomegranate. Post-paddy harvest, onion cultivation in medium lowland areas further diversifies and optimizes land use, ensuring sustainable and profitable farming for local communities.

Millet Mission

——————

We are committed to the production and marketing of millets such as Gurji, Mandia, and Kodo, supporting over 500 shareholders across 1,000 hectares of farming land. Our efforts have led to annual millet sales reaching approximately 5 lakhs, facilitated through collaborations with traders. This initiative not only boosts local agriculture but also promotes sustainable farming practices and enhances the livelihoods of our shareholders.

Community Mobilization

——————

Community mobilization is at the heart of our efforts, promoting community mobilizers (CMs) as drivers of change. We empower rural youth and women to establish community leaders, with a special focus on women’s participation in managing resources and credit programs. We hope to create sustainable development and uplift entire communities by encouraging leadership and active participation, ensuring that women play an important role in driving economic and social progress.

Village-Level Organization Building

——————

Village-level organization building focuses on empowering women by organizing them into self-help groups (SHGs) and forming village organizations for collective action. This approach also supports farmer producer groups, providing them with the professional support needed to eliminate middlemen and ensuring that the benefits directly reach the community members. These initiatives boost economic opportunities and create a sustainable development model within villages by encouraging collaboration and self-reliance.

Market Linkage

——————

One of the critical initiatives undertaken by JADEN involves facilitating rural-to-urban market linkages and managing outlets for direct sales of produce. By bridging the gap between rural farmers and urban markets, JADEN aims to enhance economic opportunities for rural communities. This effort not only boosts farmers’ incomes by providing direct access to larger markets but also ensures fair pricing and reduces middlemen dependency. Through strategic management of sales outlets, JADEN supports farmers in showcasing their produce directly to consumers, thereby promoting sustainable agricultural practices and fostering local economic growth. This initiative not only strengthens rural-urban connections but also empowers farmers to become active participants in the market economy, contributing to their overall socio-economic development.

Crop Diversification

——————

Promoting crop diversification is crucial for agricultural sustainability and economic resilience. Our initiative supports farmers in cultivating a variety of crops such as paddy, maize, groundnut, onion, tomato, watermelon, cotton, and millet. By diversifying crops, farmers reduce dependency on single crops, mitigating risks associated with market fluctuations and climate variability. This approach not only enhances food security but also boosts income opportunities through diversified markets. Through training and access to modern farming techniques, we empower farmers to maximize yields sustainably, contributing to a resilient agricultural sector and improved livelihoods for farming communities.

Additionally, we provide financial assistance for purchasing quality seeds, and tools, and implementing irrigation systems, ensuring sustainable agricultural improvements. By combining practical training with financial resources, we aim to foster self-reliance and economic growth within rural communities, enabling them to thrive and contribute to overall community development effectively.

Value Addition

——————

We support agarbatti (incense stick) production and packaging by Self-Help Group (SHG) members, empowering local women and promoting sustainable livelihoods. By training SHG members in agarbatti manufacturing techniques and quality packaging, we enhance their skills and income opportunities. This initiative not only fosters economic independence among women but also contributes to local entrepreneurship and community development. Through our support, SHG members become proficient in every aspect of the production process, ensuring high-quality products that meet market demands. This sustainable approach aims to create lasting socio-economic benefits while preserving traditional craftsmanship within the community.
